A Time To Speak, A Time To Shut Up…

Something interesting I heard on the radio today.

Often times when we think about surrendering and waving that white flag, we know that incarceration, bondage, slavery is to come.  However through the Gospel lenses, surrendering means burdens lifted, chains broken… freedom.

Pastor Eugene said something very interesting today. We studied Genesis 14, about how Abram went to rescue Lot.  Peug asked if we individually had an Abram in our lives. He said we needed to have someone like Abram in our lives: someone who would go the whole nine yards for us if we ever needed it.  If we do have an Abram in our lives, then we are blessed. I couldn’t agree more!  Then he asked if we were like Abram to others.  What kinds of friends were we?  Then he told that we can never be or have that perfect friend, but only through Christ can we find and do either of those things.

Some movie updates: Yesterday and today I saw,

Captain America

Hancock

It’s Complicated (cute movie, love Meryl Streep) <- On another note, I want to be able to have long lasting friendships like Meryl Streep had in the movie with her girlfriends.  I would love to just invite my girlfriends over and sip on some wine and enjoy each other’s company.  What a beautiful picture.

Today’s confession: I need discipline in my life, but I really have trouble with this idea of  discipline because I often relate it to routine.  Lord, knows I can’t stand routine… but I NEED discipline.  Going to be starting reading the word every day with the ladies of PCM.

Got to keep up with accomplishing my summer goals!  So far so good.

1. Memory Bank - a piggy bank to store any special notes, ticket stubs, photos, etc. instead of storing it in a box hidden away somewhere.

2. Skeletor Belt - this is just a little creepy…I don’t know if I would like the feeling of having a pair of hands holding my waist like that for the whole day.

3. Pixar Playing Cards - they look so vintage and cool.

4. How to be a Gentleman by John Bridges - “If you’ve ever wondered when it’s appropriate to send flowers or how to pick the perfect bottle of wine, Brooks Brothers’ ‘How to be a Gentleman’ book will be an essential companion through life’s trickier situations.”
